Okay, what’s new? We’ve spent nearly $53K between costs and renovations, and have done extensive work on improving it. Here’s a sampling: *New Kohler generator; new front A/C condenser and pulley; entire electrical system overhaul; entire water delivery system rebuild/overhaul; driver/passenger seats reupholstered; new radiator/rebuild/engine pulleys; hydraulic leveling system repaired; new microwave; engine fuel regulator replaced; all new batteries (Interstate); new CB; new AM/FM/CD/Stereo; new musical horn; new toilet…and more!
Some of the items that may need attention are: *Some minor touch-up of the exterior paint; areas of minor “dings”; some interior cabinet gas charged lift-arms should be replaced; ice maker doesn’t work (no biggie- just use the freezer); recharge front A/C; carpet should be cleaned again (maybe hardwood floors would be nice someday); interior drapery could be replaced at some point. Other than these non-urgent items, everything else should be in good order. I’ve tested just about everything! Also, most items are new anyway. 1988 Wanderlodge PT40 Widebody Very good overall condition. No known problems except for the fuel gage went out on our trip back to Montana a few months ago and the front/dash ac does not work. The coach is very clean inside. We had it re-carpeted at Coach-Works in Columbus Georgia per the Wanderlodge factory recommendations about 3 years ago. We purchased the same carpet from the same place that the factory uses. It has a separate stackable washer/dryer (not combination unit) in the closet area next to pantry. All curtains and upholstery were re-done just before we purchased it 3 years ago, so everything still looks very good. We installed a new water heater in October of 2007, new belts and filters in November. We installed new Dometic refrigerator when we purchased it and had stainless panels made for it and the ice maker as well. New Moen designer series faucet with soap dispenser and sprayer. The coach has 108202k miles on it, 982.74 engine hours and 1385.1 generator hours. We just returned from a 7000 mile trip in the bus and everything is working well. Several tires have some cracking on the sidewalls, but plenty of tread left. All new coach batteries a little over a year ago. 1980 FC35Our Bluebird is a FC35 with twin sofas in the lounge, rear stateroom.. 3208 Cat engine and 4 speed Allison automatic trans. Mileage is 165K. There are three roof air conditioners and I have acquired another brand new unit as a backup, but have never needed to replace any. There are three propane furnaces plus chassis furnaces which warm the vehicle very efficiently without burning any fuel once you’re rolling and everything is warmed up. The bus has the largest of the generators that Bluebird offered (I forgot how many watts…it’s a diesel Kohler and a technician is currently rewiring the controller box). The toilet is brand new and the shower has brand new plumbing and hardware. All but the two drive tires are new Michelins with less than 2,000 miles. The drive tires are Generals in excellent condition. We recently had an aluminum diamond-plate cover fabricated for the generator (not shown in photos) and there’s a high-end stereo/CD system installed throughout the bus. Hot water and coach heat is provided by a diesel/electric over the road Aqua Hot hydronic system with 4 zones including the storage bays. Hot water is endless. The heat is controlled by 5 wall mounted thermostats, which also control the two 13,500 BTU Duo therm ducted air conditioners. The bath includes both hydronic and electric heat under the cabinet. The sink, countertop and shower stall are solid surface. The private toilet includes a Traveler china pedal flush toilet with wash hose, and a window. 83FC35 Wanderlodge250 HP Turbo - 125,000 miles - side bath, rear driver side bed, electric retarder, 3 roof top AC's, 3 LP heaters - good condition. This was a Texas coach until 12/2002 when we moved her to Connecticut (we specifically looked for a southern coach to minimize the potential of under carriage rust). Over the last few years she has had numerous systems repaired or upgraded. Send for the list. While we have performed and extensive number of repairs and upgrades to this coach, there still is plenty more to accomplish (will run perfectly as is but if you desire...) - the interior, except for a hardwood floor in the kitchen area is basically factory original. While typical high BB quality it is "retro" in colors and appearance and depending on your tastes, you may want it updated a bit. This is a proven road worthy coach, not one that sits in the driveway - Some of our longer excursions include a trip from Texas to Connecticut in 2002. in 2004 we used the coach extensively touring from Connecticut through Alaska, returning through Utah to Connecticut. 1982 FC35 Bluebird Wanderlodge. 132,933 miles with new Cat certified 3208NA engine installed at 77,800 miles. Only 55,000 miles on barely broken in engine. Awnings all the way around. Newer front tires in excellent cond. Dash lights up great. New suspension leveling valves just installed. New batteries last summer. New back up monitor included, not installed. New interior flooring and upholstery in excellent condition. New Norcold refrigerator works great. Three furnaces work great. Has three under floor ducted ACs, one needs to be recharged. Unit gone through by Holland Motor homes 15 months ago. They installed new step valve, new generator tray valve, valve pressure protection switch and did total unit inspection. Also inspected and serviced Kohler 12.5 KW diesel generator. Only issues they suggested were: install new tailpipe ($100), new step cylinder (its leaking air), rear outer tires were weather checked, fog and back up lights in op. Hydraulic leveling jacks do not work. Holland Motor homes found that drivers side HWH Leveling jack pivot pin is broken. Michigan CAT went through engine in Sept. 04 and found it to be in great condition; no issues. Had them service it again this past Aug. and still checks out great. Only other items of note: passenger side window directly behind copilot seat is cracked. Some of the ceiling panels tend to droop over time. Need to be glued back up. Have new trim pieces to go between ceiling panels, not installed. Most of the body has been repainted. There is some fading along the top edge, above the windows and on various other areas. One of the fish eye spotlights has been removed to put a new bulb in and never got it done. I do have the new bulb and the spotlight fixture. Price reduced to $26,900.
